Experiments with Spectacles

 

Aims:

·      Are your spectacle-lenses suitable as magnifying glasses? Test them!

·      Try to find the focal length of each lens of your spectacles.

·      Hold the spectacles to the direct sunlight and try to focus it to a spot on the ground. What is different when using different lenses? Can you tell which of the lenses are diverging and which are converging?

·      Use your spectacles to project an enlarged image of the candle­light’s flame on the wall.

·      Use your spectacles to build both an astronomical and a terrestrial telescope.
